Life With The Libbys | Our Favorite Travel Airline

Travel is one of our core values. We love to adventure near and far and prioritize experiences as a couple, with our friends, and with our family. Whether it’s a group vacation on a houseboat in Lake Powell, planning our Amalfi Coast anniversary trip, or exploring the beauty of New England with our daughter, travel inspires our creativity and perspective.

Our wedding industry is a pretty seasonable business, so it gives us the winter months to travel. In the past few months we have been to Mexico, Florida, Colorado and I'm off to Austin in a few weeks.

One of my best travel tips is to use credit card points to purchase your flights! We use our credit card (and pay off monthly) for most of our expenses which allows our credit card to work for us and reward us with points that allows us to travel. We often travel with Southwest so when we had the opportunity to earn a Companion Pass through their credit card last year we took advantage of it. If you've never heard of Companion Pass it's a benefit through Southwest that allows you to choose one person to fly with you FREE of airline charges for an unlimited amount times. What that meant for us is that Cole flew free with me for every single flight we took through Southwest in 2023 and with the points we accrued, I didn't pay for my flights either. My only wish is that we had more time so that we could have taken advantage of it before it expired. They are currently running their annual promo to easily earn Companion Pass through their credit card and I highly recommend checking it out if you have upcoming travel this year.

Want to hear more reasons we love Southwest?

1.They have frequent flights out of Portland, Maine. I am constantly reminding myself how lucky we are that we have an airport 10 minutes from our house. It is truly such a gift and anytime we can fly out of Portland over Boston it's a no brainer for me.

2.If you're flying domestic, Southwest flies to most major cities and is always adding new destinations.

3.Two free checked bags. If you're an over packer like me you'll enjoy this. Or if you're a photographer / videographer as well we typically check our bags with clothes and our tripod bag and then we can carry on our camera bags. This significantly reduces the amount of added fees.

4.Speaking of added fees - no fee to choose your seat, because you don't. Their open seating plan is super easy and as long as you check in 24 hours before your flight, you likely won't have trouble sitting with your parter or family.

5. Baltimore (a frequent layover spot) is a super easy airport to navigate. While having a direct flight is usually preferred, a layover in Baltimore is not too bad and very easy to navigate.

I can't shut up about the Companion Pass because it enabled us to travel at such a low cost the past year and I hope by sharing this info it can help some of you too! So use this link to learn more and you can also earn an additional 30,000 points.
